When I offer advice and criticism to aspiring storytellers, I mostly tell them to stop stating the fucking obvious. Sad people are sad. Dumb people are dumb. Your trite presentation of these facts - is trite.
Add something, I tell them. Something new. Something crooked. Something charming.
