"Have you ever loved anyone?", she asked. "You know, and not been embarrassed about it?"
"No", I said.
"It sneaks up and you don't really have to think about it", she said, attempting to explain why people act the way they do.
"I don't think I could pull that off", I said.
"Probably not around now", she said; "You have barriers up. You'd catch it and stomp on it."
